Leeds Don Pottery Chrysanthymum Water Jug c1820
Early Leeds Don Pottery Floral Embossed Jug
Dating c1820, the Jug is shown in Goddens Encyclopaedia of Pottery and Porcelain.
This is a Lovely Example of a Rare piece of Leeds Ware. The Jug carries a Moulded Pattern of Flowers, which I think are Chrysanthemums to the main Body and is Guilded to the Handle and Around the Top edge and Spout.
(The example shown in Goddens carries a Lid and looks to be Unguilded, however this is identical without a lid but with Guilded Decoration, including the Top Rim).
Condition - There is a Small Firing defect to the top of the handle and some discolouration to the main body, as well as Rubbing to the Guilding to the handle and top edge . Overall Condition is Very Good.
Measurements - 7" (18cm) high.
Very Rare!
